employ what you’ve learned in the Past in the Present

Enjoy
the joy hidden in the Present
unwrap it slowly with anticipation
eager to reveal what gifts and blessings
each day will bring
delight in its mystery
not its apprehension
rejoice in its challenges that allow you to
grow

towards the Future you’ve always dreamed of

Do not lose heart

to His truths of His all-sufficient grace when you feel weak
broken
tired
out of breath
frustrated
exhausted
You are not alone
You may be struck down, but not destroyed
Persecuted, but not abandoned
Pressed on every side, but not crushed
Perplexed, but not driven to despair

Hold fast
to your values
of strength, joy and perseverance amidst adversity
for suffering produces perseverance
perseverance character
and character hope
which does not put us to shame
because of God’s love
poured out on us
like rushing waters from Niagara
whose gentle mist caresses even
the lost bystander
.
Let go
of the “need” to control what’s around you
because you can’t
Lord, please “grant me
the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change
the courage
to change the things I can
and the wisdom
to know the difference.”

of the fear that imprisons and contains you
and those around you

Trust
that His perfect love casts out all fear
Inner peace, Lord
a peace that transcends all understanding
all comprehension
to guard my heart and mind, Lord
that’s what I want
what I desperately need

you aren’t their Messiah
you can’t save them
do what you can
you can be a listening ear
while they sip on a hot tea
you can be a warm hug
and help them get of the pit
but you can’t heal their hearts
or wounds invisible to the eye
You can wrap your hands around theirs and
pray for comfort, strength and peace to cover them
and envelope them
His heavenly angels to protect them
walk alongside them towards the path of restoration and healing
give them the fertilizer and tools they need
to rebuild and grow
but recognize
you can’t make the growth happen
it takes time
and persistence
and hope
only God can do that
.
So keep on watering it

Sing to it Beethoven
Debussy and Chopin
La Vie en Rose
flash that warm smile at it
every morning and night
